It's a low explosive; a mixture of oxidising agent (the potassium permanganate) and something that burns (the magnesium powder). A low explosive is a fast-burning mixture, like this, or gunpowder. High explosives like TNT and nitroglycerin and sodium azide (the explosive compound that inflates air bags), all have nitrogen bonds that suddenly break. Question About Hybrid Fuel/Oxidizer Combinations Greetings r/rocketry . I'm a chemistry student who knows a thing or two about rockets, but I don't have a whole lot of experience launching anything besides cardboard tubes with A, B, and C motors in my back yard. In analytical chemistry, a standardized aqueous solution of KMnO 4 is sometimes used as an oxidizing titrant for redox titrations ( permanganometry ). As potassium permanganate is titrated, the solution becomes a light shade of magenta, which darkens as excess of the titrant is added to the solution.
Dec 29, 2010 · Potassium Perchlorate normally is used with Potassium Benzoate, Sodium Benzoate or Salicylate to create whistle fuel along with a phlegmatizer and liquid (white gas or the like) to dissolve it in. The pot-perc used with any of your listed fuels isn't something I have seen here and a quick Google doesn't come up with much either. Mar 01, 2018 · Potassium permanganate is a chemical compound that’s used to treat several kinds of skin conditions, including bacterial and fungal infections. Learn about the possible side effects and how to ... Question About Hybrid Fuel/Oxidizer Combinations Greetings r/rocketry . Aug 30, 2009 · Potassium permagrate wouldn't work well in rocket fuel, and isn't very easy to obtain or synthesize, however both are possible. Potassium and sodium chlorate can be made easily in the home, by boiling bleach and filtering (for sodium chlorate) and letting the filtered solution to dry, or before the solution dries,... May 21, 2006 · If you want a slightly stronger fuel for the rocket you can use a mixture of 63%KNO3, 27%sugar, 10% sulfur you will still need a core in the rocket. It works better just packed KNO3 and sugar, i am not sure about the melted method however. Permanganate potassium or potassium permanganate is a potassium permanganate. Drug has an appearance of small powder (crystals) of red or dark-violet color with metal gloss. In water substance is dissolved in the ratio 1:18, weak aqueous solution pinkish, strong solution is painted in dark-violet color.

As potassium permanganate is titrated, the solution becomes a light shade of magenta, which darkens as excess of the titrant is added to the solution. Potassium permangante "will" work in rocket fuel with the correct fuel and such, but sugar and KNO3 is probably easier cheaper and less sensitive. But the crazy purple oxidizer is cool lookin :) Sailing Student- How do I know if my life jacket is tight enough? Me- Can you breathe?
In what proportions should ethanol, potassium permanganate, and sugar be mixed to make a feasible rocket fuel? Re: Proportions of ethanol, potassium permangante, and sugar to make rocket fuel? Current Queue | Current Queue for Chemistry | Chemistry archives
SV Stoff - Rocket Fuel (known as Salbaei) consisting of 85-88% nitric acid and 12-15% sulphuric acid T-Stoff - Rocket Fuel comprising 80% hydrogen peroxide plus oxyquinoline or phosphate as a stabilizer Z-Stoff - Water solution of Na (Natrium) and Potassium Permanganate (kaliumpermaganat) Introduction. I first became aware of the Potassium Nitrate/Sorbitol (KNSB) rocket propellant in 1996, when I learned that it was being used as a replacement for the KN-Sucrose (KNSU) propellant by some European rocketry organizations. Acetone would be a workable organic solvent, however. > > I think some of the German engines actually had a separate catalyst > solution that was injected along with the fuel and oxidizer. I think > they used calcium permanganate; it is much more soluble in water than > potassium permanganate.
The fuel used to power the booster rockets on space shuttles is a mixture of aluminum metal and ammonium perchlorate.
